Tecumseh Public Schools service an area covering approximately 80 square miles and includes the City of Tecumseh and parts of the Townships of Adrian, Clinton, Franklin, Macon, Raisin, Ridgeway and Tecumseh. Tecumseh Public Schools has a student population of 3,200. It is located in Southeast Michigan between Ann Arbor, MI and Toledo, OH.
As part of Tecumseh’s growth, they built a new high school worth $33,000,000. Included in the building of the high school was the installation of a high performance infrastructure for voice, video and data. They called upon Plante & Moran to oversee their technology requirements for the new school. Plante & Moran, after working with the school district, submitted an RFQ for the infrastructure part of the technology. Capricorn Diversified Systems, Inc. was awarded the implementation for the Voice, Video and Data Infrastructure.
Our staff of experienced infrastructure professionals provided a Fiber backbone for the data between the MDF and three IDF’s. All classrooms were connected via CAT 5E cabling for the Data and Voice. All solutions included a 20-year warranty on the Voice and Data Infrastructure. We provided CAT 3 Copper backbone on the Voice as specified. All cable runs were tested and certified with complete documentation. On the video cabling, we provided a Trunk and Branch design with RG-6 plenum cable that meets the performance requirements of a modern broadband video system.
Capricorn’s flexibility in working with its clients changing needs provided an implementation that was on schedule and within budget. Capricorn’s installation team adjusted their schedule to be coordinated with the other trades on the construction site. We worked hard to stay on schedule and not disrupt others working on the site. The successfully completed installation met all of Tecumseh Public School’s technical requirements and Expectations.
